Co-Scholastic Programme

Nurturing Talents Beyond Academics for Holistic Development.

Music

Music Class

Many studies have found a correlation between music and academic excellence. At SRVS, music is a vital part of the curriculum. As students engage themselves in the world of music, they develop the finer aspects of their personalities.

Our music program not only hones their artistic skills but also enhances cognitive abilities, discipline, and emotional intelligence, contributing to overall personal growth and academic achievement.

Dance

Dance Class

Dance is one of the most loved Co-curricular activities. Students are taught diverse forms of Indian classical dances, folk dances, and contemporary styles.

Through dance, students develop physical coordination, discipline, self-expression, and an appreciation for diverse cultures, fostering creativity and a strong sense of rhythm.

Art

Art Class

The art room facilitates and motivates students to dive deep into colors, form, and textures. This opportunity of playing with colors encourages sensitivity among students and boosts emotional growth.

In SRVS, art is not only a creative form; it's a channel to sensitize social issues and promote social and environmental awareness, encouraging students to express their perspectives meaningfully.

Physical Education

Physical Education

All year groups have PE classes slotted in the timetable. It plays a central role in supporting the ethos of the school. SRVS believes that physical education helps students live healthier lives and manage challenging emotions, enabling them to achieve personal and academic success.

Our comprehensive PE program promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition, contributing to overall well-being and resilience.

Silambam

Silambam Martial Art

Silambam, one of the oldest martial arts in India, is offered as an extra-curricular activity to children of all age groups. At SRVS, the school has been concentrating on improving the fitness and self-defense of students. Learning Silambam at our school increases self-confidence and concentration.

Its main focus is on the bamboo staff. The length of the staff depends on the height of the practitioner. Ideally, it should just touch the forehead about three fingers from the head, typically measuring around 1.68 meters (five and a half feet). Different lengths may be used depending on the situation.

The primary weapon used for the art form is a particular kind of yellow bamboo known as silambambu, but other weapons may also include swords, spears, daggers, and knives. The origin of Silambam is unclear, but references to Silambam can be found in Sangam literature, for instance, in the epic, *Silapathikaram*.

Archery

Archery Activity

Archery is the sport, practice, or skill of using a bow to shoot arrows. The word comes from the Latin *arcus*, meaning bow. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat. In modern times, it is mainly a competitive sport and recreational activity.

At SRVS, archery helps students develop focus, precision, discipline, and upper body strength, while also fostering patience and mental resilience.

Yoga

Yoga Practice

SRVS offers a chance to appreciate and explore the spiritual, physical, psychological, and societal dimensions through yoga. Yoga, the fantastic science of life and living, is an endless chasm of information that brings knowledge, leading to wisdom.

Yoga brings the body and mind together and is built on three main elements – movement, breathing, and meditation. Yoga has many physical and mental health benefits, including improved posture, flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness.

Karate

Karate Training

At SRVS, the main martial art on offer is Karate. Through Karate, our aim is to bring the benefits of karate training to as many children as possible, helping them to build their self-confidence and emotional skills so they have the chance to reach their full potential in everything they do.

Karate is a Japanese martial art whose physical aspects seek the development of defensive and counter-attacking body movements. The themes of traditional karate training are fighting and self-defense, though its mental and moral aspects target the overall improvement of the individual.
